California’s state Senate Housing Committee has passed a bill (SB1652) that would require building developers to include PV on a ‘minimum percentage’ of new homes from 2006 onwards. The bill must pass through the full senate before the mandate becomes law and an earlier draft calling for PV on 25 % of new homes has been relaxed.
However, with some 135000 new homes constructed each year, the Mandate could be a very significant driver for PV in the State.
