As the PVPS Executive Conference in Venice emphasized, one of the critical factors that will help see more widespread deployment of PV systems is a clear understanding of their 'added-value' (other than simple energy delivery).
IEA PVPS Task 1 Information Dissemination, has also recognized this important area, and under the lead of Japan has initiated a special study to determine and quantify the electrical, architectural, environmental, social and economic added-values of PV.
A special study workshop was held in Sapporo, Japan in September 1999 following the PVSEC-II Conference. A follow-on workshop is planned for May 2000 to tie in with the European PV Solar Energy Conference in Glasgow, UK.
