Abstract: Participants in Task 1 of the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme have produced Status Reports on their countries' research and development of photovoltaic (PV) components, systems and applications over the previous decade (1985-1995). These reports provide information on policies driving investment in PV R&D, strategies employed to facilitate the R&D, funding considerations and the results achieved. The diversity of national approaches to PV R&D will be of interest to anyone involved in promoting, funding or managing R&D in the energy sector. This report gives a summary of these reports.
