Abstract: PV Horizon was organized by the Photovoltaic and Hybrid Systems Program of the CANMET Diversification Research Laboratory (CEDRL) in collaboration with the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA-PVPS). The aim of this workshop was to share information on current hybrid technology, international experience and R&D trends and needs. It brought together almos 70 world experts (from Canada, the USA, several European countries, Japan and Australia) around the same table in Montreal on 10 September 2001, who participated in reaching this goal.
A keynote presentation highlighted the current applicaiton of PV hybrid systems, followed by the workshop presentations in three sessions. The first session covered International experience with hybrid systems, the second one explored the R&D opportunities for hybrid systems, and the third one was an open visual presentation session on various subjects related to PV hybrid system and its components.
Finally, invited speakers from the morning oral sessions were asked to bring together their valuable expertise in order to answer the questions critical to a bright future for hybrid systems worldwide through a panel session. A representative technical committee that was put together by the workshop committee highlighted the main issues to be discussed by the panel lists. With audience participation, the panel lists came to some interesting conclusions on components, system integration, standards and guidelines, controle system issues.
The "summary and conclusions" summarizes the key points of the presentations and highlights the conclusions reached by the participants of the workshop. Most papers and presentations are availabe in the workshop Proceedings.
