Description

As a typical institute building, around two thirds of the floor area is devoted to workshops and laboratories. Offices for scientific, technical and administrative staff account for the remaining third.
The ground-plan has a comb-like structure. The long central access tract has a north-south axis. To the east lie three 3-storey wings with offices along the south side and laboratories to the north. The administration and central services are concentrated in an entrance block at the southern end of the access tract. The workshops and technical prototype laboratory are located parallel to the access tract on the western side. The comb structure and the interior zoning were deliberately chosen to achieve south-orientated offices.
